Our association board has decided to register Legislative Lobbyist Tim Kiegher to represent us in Lincoln this session. He will monitor the bills introduced and report back to us on the ones he feels pertain to our industry. I have asked JoAnne to assist with the communications back and forth. Proceeding further with a bill can get quit expensive so we will discuss our options as they arise. If you need more info on a bill we are for or against please check back here, or call Gary, Walt or Jo

LB 35 was signed by the Govenor on May 3rd, 2011. This bill was a long time coming and took some legal manuvering with the help of a lobbyist we hired. It defines a place of safekeeping removing the word nearest. Also it exempts tow trucks from weight or length while towing a single vehicle. A tow truck is now defined as an Emergency Commercial Vehicle. Combinations of vehicles can be towed to a place of repair. Your PTAN officers worked very hard on this to make it happen. Special thanks to Walt Young in Omaha for speaking to the Govenor. It becomes law in September. Here is a link so you can read it yourself. http://www.nebraskalegislature.gov/FloorDocs/Current/PDF/Final/LB35.pdf
